My dad was a long distance bus driver when I was growing up. He is also a professional photographer. So as a kid, I got to see amazing pictures of the places he got to see. I admire the fact that he has been to 46 of the 50 United States. He’s still missing Washington, Oregon, Alaska, and Hawaii. (Update: As of 2022, dad has added Washington and Oregon, so he is up to 48!) . Since my family didn’t have much money, we didn’t travel too far from home — mostly up and down the east coast. We went as far North as Toronto and as far south as Florida. That was cool, but I was determined to see the world when I got a chance! My dad is jealous that I have spent time in Washington, Oregon, and Alaska, but I still have a long way to go to catch up to him. Below are pics from a couple of the places I have been as well as a list of states and countries I have been to. (You can hover over the images to see the location!) Let me clarify. When I say I have been to a place, it means I spent some time engaging with the state — not just driven through and stopped at a restaurant. I went to a museum or a park. I took a tour of a city or spent some time with a friend in their home town, etc. Something more substantial than just looking at it through the window of a car or making a pit stop.
